Why Optimising Human Performance

The Optimising Human Performance podcast was created with the support of a covert defence and security charity that serves people whose work is defined by secrecy.

Many of those individuals live and operate in the shadows. They often cannot speak openly about what they do, the environments they work in, or the pressure they carry. The demands of those roles can be intense, but the burden is often invisible to everyone around them.

This podcast was built for them.

Its purpose was to provide practical, credible conversations on performance, recovery, resilience and wellbeing for people working under pressure, especially those who cannot easily share the reality of their work. Over time, the audience grew. We began to hear from people in other high-stress professions who said the episodes were helping them too: leaders, clinicians, coaches, athletes, emergency responders and others operating in demanding environments.

That wider response has shaped what the podcast has become. While those burdened by secrecy remain at the heart of why it exists, the conversations now support a broader community of people trying to perform well, recover properly and stay effective under pressure.
